I have to reinvent the wheel. Someone please tell me this does not happen in Finale 2014 or 2014.5. When I get my staff assignments fixed (or so I think) I look back at ARIA and all the instruments have changed, or been 'emptied.' I try to reload the ensemble on ARIA but it's been changed to the new screwed up assignments. When I change one of the channels in the Score Manager, other staves change their settings because they seem to be linked together with the ones I'm changing. When I do, the Score Manager has them assigned to different staves. I save an ensemble of 16 sounds so I can load it later, knowing I won't be able to start the document with the instruments I want. It goes back to Garritan sounds even after I have specified using JABB sounds. Sometimes it insists on loading all the ARIA instruments that are part of my initial settings, even if the corresponding staff has been deleted.

If the document (why?) opens in 'use MIDI for playback' then it needs to be re-taught all the settings when I switch to VST playback. I don't understand why on earth Finale and Aria can't work together to remember the instruments I choose for each staff. about 40-50 staves to start, and then I delete the ones I'm not going to use before I start. I have a huge template I work from most of the time.
